Welcome to Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Winnipeg
Serving the Serbian Orthodox community in Manitoba, our church is a spiritual home dedicated to Saint Sava, the first Archbishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church. We welcome you to explore our faith, participate in our services, and join our vibrant community.
Our spiritual and community services
At St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, we offer a rich spiritual life through Divine Services, the Holy Mysteries (Sacraments), religious education, and a variety of parish activities that strengthen our faith and unite our community. We warmly invite you to discover how you can become an active part of our parish family as we grow together in faith, love, and fellowship.
Our church is more than a place of worship—it is a spiritual home where we gather as one family in Christ. Here, we share both the joys and the challenges of life, learn from one another, nurture our Orthodox faith, and preserve the rich spiritual and cultural heritage passed down to us by our ancestors. Everyone is welcome, whether you are seeking comfort, spiritual guidance, or simply a community that strives to live in the love of God and of one another.
As our Lord teaches us in the Holy Gospel:
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
(Matthew 18:20)
May these words of Christ inspire us to come together in prayer, fellowship, and love, building up the Church as the living Body of Christ and leaving to our children a lasting example of faith, kindness, and unity.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family into our parish. May God bless you, and welcome to St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church!
Baptisms and weddings
Share life's most meaningful moments with us through the Holy Mysteries of Baptism and Marriage, which hold a special place in the life of every Orthodox Christian.
The Holy Mystery of Baptism is the spiritual birth of a person into a new life in Christ. Through the threefold immersion in blessed water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, one is united with Christ, cleansed of the ancestral sin, and becomes a member of the Church—the Body of Christ. Baptism is not merely a ceremony, but the beginning of a life of faith, a calling into communion with God, and the path toward salvation. It is celebrated only once in a person's lifetime and ushers the newly baptized into the fullness of the Church's liturgical and sacramental life.
The Holy Mystery of Marriage is God's blessing upon the union of a man and a woman, who enter into a sacred covenant founded on love, faithfulness, and mutual self-sacrifice. Through this Holy Mystery, husband and wife receive God's grace to strengthen them in building a Christian family, raising their children in the Orthodox faith, and becoming a living icon of Christ's love for His Church.
Our parish warmly welcomes all families who wish to receive these Holy Mysteries in accordance with the faith and sacred Tradition of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Our priest will gladly guide you through the preparation for Baptism or Marriage and answer any questions you may have, so that these sacred occasions may be celebrated with faith, joy, and reverence.
